Grady EMC conducts 71st Annual Meeting

A large crowd of approximately nine hundred (900) individuals gathered at the 71st annual meeting on Friday, October 16, 2009.  A cloudy, humid, misty morning did not deter the members from attending a favorite, annual event for them.  Being able to participate in the business affairs of their cooperative, along with getting some good refreshments, hearing some heartwarming southern gospel music, and the opportunity to win a great prize are various reasons given why they enjoy attending their meeting.  It is also obvious that relationships and friendships are renewed each year.

As each of the 570 members registered, they were given a free set of quality, kitchen knives to take home.  The elections process for Board of Directors saw District 1 Director Dewey Brock, Jr., District 4 Director James Freeman, and District 7 Director G. Willis Smith retain their directorships.  Congratulations to each of these men and our thanks go out to them for the extremely important services they provide to the cooperative.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grady EMC, Mr. Donald Cooper, officially called the business portion of the meeting to order.  He then asked Reverend Mike Keown, pastor of Coolidge Baptist Church, to offer the invocation.  Mr. Cooper then asked the cooperative’s attorney, Claire Chason to conduct the business matters of the meeting.  After completion of her duties, Attorney Chason introduced Mr. Thomas A. Rosser, President of Grady EMC.  Mr. Rosser welcomed everyone and introduced some special guests in attendance.  A video presentation, recognizing and honoring Grady EMC personnel and their families for military service to their country, was also introduced by Mr. Rosser.  As this presentation occurred, it was clear to see that it was a moving, appreciated experience by those attending.  Mr. Rosser then turned over the fun portion of the meeting to Wayne Windham, who conducted the drawing of the over 100 prizes donated generously by various vendors and businesses throughout Grady EMC’s service area.
